A plant grows in Brooklyn
/Now that the cold weather is upon us and winter is around the corner, I’m slowly trying to bring more plants into my home. A few things I came across lately that have inspired me to learn more about indoor plants, their benefits, and to own my inner green thumb .
Wonderplants 2 is a beautiful looking book with so many ideas and gorgeous pictures which will surely inspire you to bring plants into your home. It showcases beautiful plant filled interiors and so many creative ideas. The end of the book has a helpful plant index and how to care for them. This makes a great coffee table book!
A very cool way to bring plants to the people, The Tula truck drives to different locations in Brooklyn, a mini greenhouse on wheels, how cool is that. Creators Christan Summers & Ivan Martinez make buying plants fun and easy. Check out their instagram daily to find out where they are. They’re opening a storefront in Greenpoint very soon. Check out their website too, not only is it beautiful, but they have all kinds of useful info on how to keep your plants alive and thriving.
I recently discovered the Sill, a beautiful on-line plant store that makes buying plants super easy. Their website is packed full of information for beginners to experienced plant people. They have two locations in nyc with in-store classes and workshops. But if you don’t live in the area, they have on-line workshops as well, and of course home delivery of plants.
There’s so many benefits of plants in the home. Especially for us city dwellers that don’t get out in nature enough. Having plants in your home will purify your air (remove toxins), will increase oxygen levels (breath easier), increase the humidity of a room (goodbye dry skin, colds and sore throats). Put some succulents in your bedroom to refresh your air at night, put a peace lily in your bathroom to remove mold from the air. Plants in the bedroom will reduce your stress, make you happier and help you sleep better.
Plants enhance the quality of of life, boost our moods, beautify our homes and bring in nature which is what we all could use.
